I was so excited when I got the opportunity to get my hair done at DreamDry in the Flatiron District before a fun day at New York Fashion Week this year. It was my second time at fashion week (my first before I was even blogging) and I was as giddy as a kid in a candy store. No really! I love the energy of NYC, especially the whole atmosphere of New York Fashion Week. Not to mention all the shows are just so inspirational and eye-opening to all the styles that we will see the next season!
I was attending a show right after DreamDry and knew I wanted effortless beach waves (my go-to hair style always). After arriving and meeting some of the girls, I sat down and talked with my stylist about what exactly I was looking for. I love to show pictures so artists can see my inspiration and the photo I showed was of Arielle from Something Navy. Her waves are the perfect mix of effortless but polished. My stylist was then able to give me a quick tutorial of how to create these waves using a curling iron and a little Oribe Beach Wave spray. I always curl away from the face using a curling rod but he showed me how to perfect the curling iron technique and I think I’m sold. I left with the perfect waves and can’t wait to come back my next visit.
After I was done, I was able to connect and chat with Annie, the Founder of Style Collective. Style Collective is basically a blogging community that is full of amazing girl bosses who want to empower each other and help one another do what they love. I have loved being a member and have learned so much already. This event also allowed me to connect with so many other inspirational ladies with different styles that I now follow on a daily basis.
Following my appointment, I quickly headed to Sephora for a quick touch-up of my makeup and then headed to the Veronica Beard show in the West Village with Liz who blogs at purehoyhome . The stunning show was at the super boho Jane Hotel which was like a dream with its eclectic decor. The collection was also perfection. It was definitely my style with bohemian floral dresses, structured corduroy jackets and blazers, and a series of layered turtlenecks that were layered strategically under so many different pieces for a versatile look. I was also in love with the unique mix of many of her jackets that combined elements of a peacoat with a motorcycle jacket and metallics with fur. Veronica Beard also introduced its own line of boots and denim at this show which are all now officially on my wish list.
Later that night, I was able to meet with one of my best friends who lives in the city and catch up with some girl time over some delicious French food before heading back home. Thank you Style Collective and DreamDry for having me for this event! It was just the perfect day and just gave me an even greater affirmation that collaborating, blogging, and fashion is what truly puts a smile on my face. I can’t wait for New York Fashion Week in the Fall to go back!
