This past February, Jon (my husband) and I bought a craftsman style house that was built in the 1920’s and recently flipped. Living in the South, I loved the feel and look of an older home and was concerned we might not find that in our new surroundings in the North. That was until my friend sent me the link to our new house. I had been looking for a while for a house that had a front porch, white walls, an updated kitchen (which was very important since Jon is a chef), and room to grow. It was kinda crazy because the day before our Raleigh house sold, I drove by our new house and told my family I found the house we would buy. Of course, they all thought I was crazy and said I hadn’t really looked around (which I had) but I proved them all wrong when we signed the paperwork. I knew Jon would be sold when he saw the carrera marble kitchen countertops!
Needless to say, a flipped house filled with white walls, cabinets, and countertops is gorgeous but also needs some pops of color. I have had a list a mile long of the things I wish I could get right away but know it all takes time. So I decided I would start a new series that will be all about the things I am longing for and have added to my wishlist. In this case, today it is all about items to decorate my house.
My top 5 on my wishlist this week are:
- Gray Malin Print: I have always loved Gray Malin photography and even put this exact print as the screen saver for my classroom the last 2 months of school. While his prints are not cheap, as with any art, I think this framed artwork about my couch would be a great focal point. I love all the colors and the fact that it represents a favorite place of mine. All beach prints are also 30% off right now with the code BEACH30.
2. Lulu and Georgia You Better Have Pizza Doormat: we have been needed a cute doormat ever since we moved in. I have looked everywhere and have not found one nearly as adorable as the doormat’s that Lulu and Georgia have on their site. I specifically love this one for it’s humor and the fact that I love pizza. This doormat is also perfect and makes me want to sing Adele everytime I see it which wouldn’t be the worst way a guest could greet you!
3. Target Threshold Metal/Wood/Leather Bar Cart : I have been looking for a bar cart forever. This one from target is the perfect brass color and a great price!
4. Ruffled Boudoir Pillow- I love a stripe with a ruffle and one thing I can never have enough of is pillows. I need 2 of these pillows as I love how they would add a chic southern accent to my house.
5. Tortoise Shell Rocks Glasses: The prettiest glasses. They would be perfect for that bar cart I have been eyeing and for entertaining. I love the tortoise shell design and size of these glasses.
